On the twelfth of July, a painful anniversary settles upon the hearts of the Druze community everywhere. It marks the days when Suwayda, Jabal Bashan, was turned into a scene of pain and a humanitarian tragedy that shook the conscience.
In those days of the summer of 2025, our people in Suwayda lived through one of the hardest ordeals in their modern history. Reports by independent international organizations, including the United Nations and human rights groups, documented the scale of the tragedy that befell the region: thousands of victims, hundreds of thousands of displaced people forced to leave their homes, and families who lost their loved ones.
They were never just numbers. Behind every number was a human being, a story, a home, and a dream. There was a father, a mother, a child, a neighbor. There was human dignity that deserved to be protected, and a memory that deserves to stay alive.
Why We Remember
We remember because memory is a trust. Because silence in the face of the truth is a second injustice to those who are gone. And because loyalty to our people means carrying their story and bringing it to the world with a clear, responsible, and humane voice.
We remember not to sow hatred, but to plant hope. Not to relive the pain alone, but to draw from it the resolve to be a voice for the voiceless, and a hand extended to those in need.

Suwayda, its mountain, its people, and its history, will remain in our hearts. The memory of its people will remain a guiding light, reminding us that true belonging reveals itself in times of hardship, and that dignity is neither bought nor forgotten.
